IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak conduct their own IPMAT, while IIM Ranchi accepts IPMAT Indore’s scorecard. Not only this, IIM Jammu and Bodh Gaya conducts their own exam – JIPMAT. Overview of IPMAT Syllabus 2024

IPMAT syllabus generally comprises questions from three different sectors – verbal ability, quantitative aptitude, and data interpretation & logical reasoning. But talking specifically about IIM Indore IPMAT, the exam is divided into three sections – verbal ability, quantitative aptitude (short-answer type), and quantitative aptitude (MCQ type).

IPMAT Syllabus: Verbal Ability

The questions from the reasoning sections in the IPMAT exam are very interesting, and challenging at the same time. Questions from reasoning can be further divided into two parts – critical and logical reasoning.

IPMAT Syllabus: Quantitative Aptitude 

Now comes one of the most challenging sections of the IPMAT syllabus – quantitative aptitude. This covers a vast range of topics. Let’s now look at the prominent topics for the quantitative aptitude syllabus of the IPMAT exam.

These were some of the prominent topics that are generally asked in the quantitative aptitude of the IPMAT syllabus. Keep in mind that modern maths is only a topic for the IPMAT Indore, while other IPM exams generally don’t prefer higher maths. So, if you are preparing for IIM Indore, then only consider higher maths or else focus on other topics as well.

IPMAT 2024 Marking Scheme

The IPMAT exam has three parts. The first part, Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, has 50 multiple-choice questions worth 200 marks. Candidates get 40 minutes to answer them. The second part, with 25 MCQs, focuses on Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning, lasting 40 minutes and contributing 100 marks. 

The third part introduces 25 Short-answer questions on the same topics, with no negative marking, allowing candidates to express their knowledge. The entire exam is 120 minutes long.

For every correct answer in the MCQ sections, candidates get +4 marks, but they lose 1 mark for each wrong answer. However, the short answer questions don’t have negative markings.
