4-Year Bachelor’s Programme (B.Des)

  • Duration: 4 years (including 1 year of foundation)
  • Number of Seats: 180

Specializations:

  • Hard Material Design

  • Crafts Communication

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board of education.
  • Students appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

2-Year Master’s Programme (M.Des)

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Number of Seats: 90

Eligibility:

  • Graduates from Design and Architecture backgrounds (B.Des., B.Arch., B.A. in Design, B.Sc. in Design, B.Voc. in Design, or any other graduation degree in Design or Architecture).

3-Year Master’s Programme (M.Voc)

  • Duration: 3 years (including 1 year of foundation)
  • Number of Seats: 90

Selection/Assignment of Discipline

  • Candidates must choose their specialization while filling out the online registration form before the entrance test.
  • Specialization selection is based on performance in foundation semesters and aptitude, determined by a committee constituted by IICD.

Important Notes

  • Graduates with B.Des., B.Arch., B.A. in Design, B.Sc. in Design, and B.Voc. in Design can directly join 2-year/3-year M.Des. programs after clearing the entrance test.
  • Graduates from non-design backgrounds are eligible for M.Voc. after completing a 1-year PG foundation at IICD, making the total duration 3 years.
  • IICD reserves the right to adjust seat numbers.
  • Candidates appearing for qualifying exams can apply provisionally but must meet eligibility requirements within 90 days of the course start date, failing which admission will be deferred to the next year.

Exam Centres 

The IICD Entrance Test is scheduled to take place at sixteen different locations across India. These locations include Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jammu, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Raipur, and Udaipur.

Candidates are required to specify their top three choices for test centers. It’s important to note that IICD reserves the right to modify or cancel test center assignments or dates if necessary. Any such alterations will be promptly communicated to the candidates who have registered for the test.

IICD Exam 2024 Result 

The IICD will announce the IICD Exam Result 2024 tentatively in January 2024. Aspirants can access their results online through the institute’s admission portal, and a direct link for result checking will be updated accordingly.

To view the result, candidates should log in using their credentials. The result-cum-scorecard will furnish detailed information such as sectional and overall marks, along with the qualifying status. Following the result declaration, candidates listed in the merit list must remit the semester fee, which can be paid through both online and offline modes.

The IICD 2024 exam comprises two parts. Part A evaluates General Awareness, Creativity, and perception, carrying 35% weightage. Part B encompasses Material, Color & Conceptual Test (45% weightage), and Personal Interview (20% weightage).

Seat allotment for the design programs at IICD will be based on the candidate’s merit rank in the exam. The merit list, presented as downloadable PDFs, will be categorized into the 4-year B.Des program, 2-year M.Des program, and 3-year M.Voc program.
