The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to disclose the CSIR NET City Intimation Slip for the December 2023 session, scheduled from December 26 to 28, 2023. As per the official announcement on csirnet.nta.ac.in, the CSIR NET Admit Card 2023 will be accessible one week before the exam dates. The CSIR NET 2023 examination encompasses five papers, namely Mathematical Science, Life Science, Chemical Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science, all conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

The NTA initiated the CSIR NET Application Form Correction 2023 Window, operational from December 6 to 8, 2023. The application submission period was open from November 1 to December 4, 2023. On November 1, 2023, the National Testing Agency (NTA) issued the CSIR NET Notification for the December 2023 session. The responsibility for conducting the CSIR UGC NET exam, and determining eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship (LS) in Indian universities and colleges, has been entrusted to NTA by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Eligibility criteria for CSIR UGC NET Exam 2023-2024

Nationality

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s Degree: Candidates with or pursuing a master’s degree in relevant fields are eligible to apply.
  • Result Awaited (RA): Applicants enrolled for MSc or equivalent can apply under the RA category, but they must complete their qualifying degree within two years from the CSIR NET result date.
  • BSc (Hons) or Integrated MS-PhD: Those with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) can apply. Undergraduates become eligible for CSIR fellowship after registering for PhD/Integrated PhD within two years.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Bachelor’s degree holders can apply for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) only, not for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor roles. BE/BS/BTech/BPharma/MBBS final year/result-awaiting candidates qualify for JRF. BSc (Hons.) final year/result-awaited candidates are not eligible.

Others

  • PhD degree holders with a master’s before September 19, 1991, and 50% marks are eligible for lectureship only.

CSIR NET Educational Qualification

  • Qualifications must have at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates). Accepted qualifications include MSc, Integrated BS-MS, BS (4 years), BE, BTech, BPharma, and MBBS.

CSIR NET 2024 Age Limit

  • CSIR JRF Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years, with relaxations of 5 years for SC/ST/Third gender/PwD/females and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer).
  • Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor: No upper age limit for candidates applying for CSIR NET lectureship.
