Career as a Financial Engineer/ Financial Mathematician
Financial engineering applies mathematical & quantitative methods to financial problem solving. It is a cross-disciplinary field combining financial theory, applications of mathematics, engineering methods, and programming practices. Financial Engineers/ Financial Mathematicians are involved in conducting statistical & mathematical deductions using various formulas and methods. They also write or build and use various mathematical/ financial modeling techniques to accurately describe financial situations, economic relations, financial market dynamics, investment flows, financial risks, taxation efficiency, and other relevant issues of practical significance in the financial and economic realm. They use various statistical, data analytical, and financial software to carry out their work. They write or build different mathematical and financial models as well as algorithm (a set of rules used in calculations or computing or other problem-solving operations using a computer) to solve complex financial problems using computers.
