Train Your Brain to See Good in Everything

Train Your Brain

We face many challenges in our personal life as well as in our career. In fact, career is one aspect of life which constantly makes us uncertain and at times leads us to the negative loop. From the quest of choosing the right career to the competitive peers, from ever nudging relatives to an un-supportive family and what not! There is something that you can do about all your woes. That is, to train your brain to see good in everything.

Indeed now-a-days career has become an important aspect of everyone’s life. So here I’m to give you some motivation to get your life back on track by giving you some tips to see above and beyond just a career.

All of us chase happiness, but what exactly is happiness? Happiness is an inside feeling; it is nothing but a state of mind. To lead a happy life, it’s a mandate to keep your brain happy. Every now and then, negative thoughts start buzzing in our mind and it’s quite hard to stay away from the cobweb of negativity. It’s time to train our brain to shun these dark clouds of pessimism and rewire our brain with optimism.

Here are some tips to put a positive spin on your negative thoughts:

Express Gratitude

Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul. When nothing goes right in life, it’s good to take into account of what’s near perfect in your life and all those things do deserve a little thank you note from your soul. Count your blessings and pen them down one by one. This good thing could be anything radio playing your favorite track, scoring good marks in your most dreaded subject, bumping into an old friend, finding a great job opportunity or a family that supports.

Making a gratitude list alters your mood and may also lead to a sudden shift from the glass is half empty to the glass is half full attitude. Remember gratitude turns what we have into enough in fact the things we are grateful for further expand.

Meditation

Mind your mind – Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without. This one is a tried and tested therapy, it might seem hard but you certainly can take control of your mind. Indulge yourself in meditation or yoga as these things help to take the focus away from your thoughts and will bring the attention towards your breath in turn making you feel calm. You will experience the serene bliss of that one moment, the present moment!

You can undertake any activities like deep breathing, walking in nature, soothing music, etc which gives relaxation from all the stress and anxiety and will put your mind at rest. Practicing these helps to build a positive aura around you and you will also experience high levels of enthusiasm the whole day.

Help Others or Do Something Good

If you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your path. Take a pause to do something thoughtful for someone – as simple as making someone smile or just buying someone a cup of coffee will add on to your happiness. Likewise when others are feeling low, don’t avoid their negative energy rather jump in with your positive mindset and help them see the sun when they see the clouds!

Helping someone not only takes the focus away from your sufferings but also gives your mind a state of tranquility as it creates the ripple effect. After all, the little things do have the power of igniting joy!

Embrace Yourself

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. Main apni favorite hoon the popular dialogue by the famous fictional character of Geet from the movie Jab we met clearly depicts the central idea of this point. Loving yourself is good for health (now I’m not saying you become narcissistic). Just be comfortable in your own skin and you will not feel the need to be accepted by others.

Don’t beat yourselves up for the failures you encounter; be gentle and encouraging with yourself. Remember that everyone has imperfections; all you need is to accept, love and honor yourself, no matter what! Always keep your head high, chin up and most importantly believe in yourself and the world will certainly believe in you.

Repeat Positive Affirmations

Positive thoughts attract positive results. When things seem to be falling apart, try this mantra. By repeating positive affirmation you train your mind to believe them. Remember Rancho’s popular philosophy ‘all izz well’ from the movie ‘3 idiots’. It is nothing but just a way of consoling yourself that for every upside down situation, there will be a silver lining. And yes folks, it does work!

Challenge Negative Thoughts

All that we are is the result of all that we have thought. Every time a negative thought sneaks into your mind, combat it and replace it with a positive one. Thought process is what matters the most. Even the famous book THE SECRET: ‘The Law of ATTRACTION’ says like attracts like, so when you think a thought you are also attracting like thoughts to you. Thoughts are magnetic and have frequency, your thoughts become things. Sometimes a temporary fog of negative thoughts may settle in your mind but train your brain to lift it up with a series of positive ones.

Stop Overthinking

The only thing that makes it a thing is that you keep thinking about it! To put across in simple terms, over thinking means building scenarios in your mind that doesn’t even exist. It’s not the reality but your own deep rooted thoughts that tend to upset you. Over thinking is the root cause of most of our problems, it twists things around and pushes you in a spiral of regret and self – loathe. Isn’t it better to let go off things that are beyond your control?

One should realize that one cannot control everything and hence inculcate a let it be attitude in life for those things. Stop worrying and have faith that things happen for a reason and eventually everything will turn out for the best. Don’t over think; just flow with good vibes and let life surprise you!

Feed your soul – Live, Laugh, Love!

Take out time to do things that make your soul happy – singing some random number, dancing in the rain, long chit chat sessions with your old bestie or reading a novel by your favorite author. Do anything and everything that adds a smile to your face and makes you feel alive! Surround yourself with the people where you are celebrated.

Laugh often as Laughter attracts joy, releases negativity and leads to miraculous cures. Why do you need an occasion to celebrate? Let’s live every moment and celebrate the festival called life!

Over to You

And the list is endless my child, from positive self talk to elimination of catastrophic thoughts, from following your passion to being open to humor; all these things help you to overcome from the negative spiral. But what matters most is when you are ready to see things from a positive perspective and start finding little good in almost everything.

By positive thinking I don’t mean that you shut your eyes towards reality and practicality but that you approach unpleasant situations in a more positive manner. You start searching the best in the worst. Don’t think that these things will have a magical effect overnight but yes you will certainly turn into an optimist with time and will come one step closer to happiness.
